HPD Racing through education

The Holland Police Dept Racing Through Education Program is a non-profit program, started in 2009, which is solely funded through donations from area businesses and individuals within the Holland/Zeeland area. By using a race car set up like a police pursuit vehicle, it is a tool to educate teens of the dangers of Distracted Driving (cell phone usage and texting while driving), drugs & alcohol, street racing and to also promote staying in school.

In 2011 we have spoken to nearly 1,000 students, in classroom settings within the West Michigan area, about the dangers of distraction driving. 10% of those students have voluntarily signed our Hang Up & Drive Pledge, promising not to use their cell phone while driving
